Clouds over Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort, WV May 26, 2024 – Cloud Seeding the Sky, Episode 3

I’m back in Mooresville shooting from the narrow constraints of the backyard of my townhome. The day started off picture perfect with nothing but blue North Carolina skys. Nothing much happened in the sky today. It was just gorgeous. I was able to catch two planes near the end of the video with short Contrails….

This video was shot on May 23 and 24, 2024 in Herndon, Virginia. As you can see, I am working through the settings on the camera. The speed of the timelapse was too fast on the 23rd so any evidence of cloud seeding was too fast all-though you can definitely see a few planes with long, long-lasting trails coming off the rear of the planes.

May 30th started off with a beautiful blue sky. I shot this video from my backyard. For most of the morning, the sky was pure blue. I was able to catch some planes with short contrails. About two minutes into the video, the clouds started rolling in. Puffy, billowing clouds with exciting edges rolling in…

The sky was a great blue and the trails behind the planes were extremely visible. You can see the planes criss-crossing the sky and even running parallel flight paths leaving trails of something.

You can see in the pictures how the sky becomes cloudy and provides an interesting glow around the sun.

I moved the GoPro around in my backyard to keep if from overheating. At the 7 minute mark, the wispy clouds become thick. At the 7:26 mark, perfect lines across the sky start appearing and blending into the wispy clouds. Is this normal? Things start getting busy at the 9 minute mark with lots of perfect, straight-line clouds crossing the sky sequence and perfectly parallel – because that’s totally normal.

It’s a great place to get some great timelapses of the sky. The skies were pretty angry on the 25th with rain storms rolling in an out over the mountain.
At the beginning of the video, I did catch a few plans with short Contrails.
What’s interesting is that what I consider to be normal clouds randomly form and are puffy. There’s a layer above these clouds that looks totally different.
